Inly School Celebrates Interconnectedness and Initiative at Annual Learning Fair
Inly School’s Kindergarten through Middle School students showcased their passion for global understanding and proactive engagement at the annual Learning Fair, themed “Around the World: Interconnectedness and Initiative.” The event, held as part of the school’s year-long exploration of Interconnectedness and World Cultures, aimed to promote critical thinking, community involvement, and problem-solving skills among its students.
From colorful displays to interactive presentations, the fair offered a glimpse into various cultures, highlighting the connections that bind humanity together. Students delved into topics ranging from environmental sustainability to social justice issues, demonstrating a deep understanding of the interconnectedness of global challenges.
Kindergarten students immersed themselves in the study of traditional and modern African dwellings, uncovering the unique architecture, cultural significance, and innovative designs shaping communities across the continent of Africa.
Lower Elementary students delved into the innovative solutions emerging over the last decade to address the pressing challenges posed by water scarcity, environmental degradation, and forced migration. (Listen to their original song, “One Home.”)
Upper Elementary students investigated the impact of an exchange of resources and ideas along the Silk Road. They explored timeless themes like how geographic features influence patterns of trade and how the interactions humans have lead to an exchange of ideas and subsequent iterations and innovations.
Middle School students, stunned at the discovery of just how much water is used in the production of clothing textiles, researched watershed ecology and local restoration efforts.
As the day concluded, students left inspired and empowered, ready to continue their journey as global citizens committed to making a positive impact on the world. With initiatives like the Learning Fair, Inly School reaffirms its dedication to fostering a culture of interconnectedness, initiative, and critical thinking among its students.
